In awe of this parasitic plant that is a Christmas staple.
It's Christmas time and no decor is complete without a ball of Mistletoe hanging down from somewhere. What is it about this Parasitic plant that carries romance in the air? Couples standing beneath a ball or a sprig of fresh or plastic or silk Mistletoe must kiss.........?!!?
There are many myths and folklores surrounding the status of Mistletoe. Some say that the name may have have a German relation, Mist (dung) and Tang(branch) - DUNG ON A TWIG , because birds that ate the mistletoe berries would spread the mistletoe seeds through their feces flying from tree to tree.
There are many other tales and folklores where people believed Mistletoe had some healing and medicinal properties , ... people still do.
Well, the Navajo name for the mistletoe is "basket on high."
Next time you find yourself kissing under the Mistletoe remember that even parasites have their spots in high places.
