Beehive Ginger

Whenever I've seen this flower (or inflorescence|*)  in cut-flower arrangements, I go nuts. They are brightly colored  and give out  a sweet-spicy-gingery fragrance, they are 5 to 8 inches  tall and last for a couple of months as a cut flower. Impressive, huh?
I'm in awe of their color, appearance, aroma and their longevity as cut-flowers. They are native to Malaysia and the tropics.

While the flowers themselves are not attractive the brightly colored bracts* arranged in a honey-comb structure is what's attractive and eye-catching.

*bracts = modified leaf
*inflorescence = The complete flowerhead of a plant including stems, stalks, bracts, and flowers. A flower that is not a solitary flower
