The  Grand Prismatic Spring located in the Yellow Stone National Park is the third  largest spring in the world and the largest in the United States.
The beautiful red, green, brown, yellow and orange  colors which puts me in awe as it does to many more is caused by the pigmented bacteria and algae that thrive  on the  mineral rich edges of the spring.
It is said that the microbial  mat changes color from red to green and vice versa; the temperature of the water, the season and the chlorophyll content and the caretenoids are all factors that contribute to the brilliantly vibrant colors. The blue however is the color of water.

Size of the spring: 250  by 300 feet
Depth of the spring  160 feet
Amount of water discharged  2100 L  @ 70 degrees C per minute.
